Factores asociados al estrés académico en estudiantes de odontología de una universidad privada

Resumen

Introducción: El estrés académico en estudiantes de odontología es una respuesta compleja ante altas demandas académicas y clínicas, lo que afecta su rendimiento, bienestar emocional y desarrollo profesional.

Objetivo: Determinar los factores asociados al estrés académico en estudiantes de odontología de una universidad privada.

Métodos: El estudio fue descriptivo y transversal. La muestra estuvo constituida por 173 estudiantes de odontología. Para la recolección de datos se empleó el cuestionario validado Dental Environment Stress, conformado por 30 preguntas con opciones de respuesta en escala Likert, diseñado para identificar factores estresantes durante la formación odontológica. Las variables analizadas fueron género y progresión clínica (preclínica y clínica). Para evaluar la asociación entre las variables se aplicó la prueba estadística de ji cuadrado con un nivel de significación del 5 %.

Resultados: Los principales factores asociados con mayores niveles de estrés en los estudiantes fueron la impuntualidad y las ausencias de los pacientes a sus citas (52,33 %) y el temor a desaprobar uno o más cursos (45,93 %). Asimismo, los niveles de estrés fueron más altos en las estudiantes de sexo femenino (p< 0,05) y en aquellos que cursaban asignaturas clínicas (p< 0,05).

Conclusiones: El miedo al fracaso académico y las exigencias clínicas son factores primordiales de estrés en estudiantes de odontología. Las mujeres presentan mayores niveles de estrés debido a la presión académica y clínica.
