Complicaciones a largo plazo del entrecruzamiento corneal en pacientes con queratocono progresivo
Resumen
Introducción: El queratocono es una enfermedad progresiva, que en estadios avanzados lleva a la discapacidad visual. El crosslinking corneal detiene o enlentece su progresión.
Objetivo: Identificar las complicaciones posoperatorias y las variables predictoras del haze corneal, 10 años después de realizar crosslinkingcorneal.
Métodos: Estudio analÃtico retrospectivo, realizado entre junio del 2019 y diciembre del 2023, en 62 pacientes con queratocono progresivo, tratados de un ojo, con crosslinking corneal. Se identificó la presencia/ausencia de complicaciones, tipo de complicación, se calculó el Ãndice de complicaciones y se estimó la variable predictora de haze corneal.
Resultados: Las complicaciones se presentaron en el 41,9 % (p= 0,001), versus 58,1 % sin complicaciones. El haze fue la complicación más frecuente (19 ojos; 30,6 %), predicho por el Ãndice de queratocono preoperatorio; el aplanamiento grave se presentó solo en 2 ojos (3,2 %); el adelgazamiento grave y el cambio refractivo hipermetrópico, en 1 paciente (1,6 %).
Conclusiones: El tratamiento con crosslinking corneal induce complicaciones en menos de la mitad de los casos, el haze corneal es la más frecuente, predicho por el Ãndice de queratocono preoperatorio.
