Arthroscopic extraction of intraarticular loose body in the knee
Keywords:

Introduction: Loose joint bodies can be found in any joint of the human body, especially in the knee joint. This type of joint condition occurs as a consequence of traumatic, degenerative, inflammatory and ischemic injuries.
Objective: To present the clinical case of a patient with a loose joint body in the knee.
Clinical case: A 56-year-old male patient with a history of apparent health, who presented moderate to severe pain in the right knee, accompanied by a feeling of blockage, which made it difficult to extend the knee, for 2 years and which worsened over time. He was instructed to have simple anteroposterior and lateral weight-bearing knee x-rays, which did not show any alterations, so he underwent knee arthroscopy in which an intra-articular loose body in the medial compartment of 1.5 cm in diameter was observed, probably related to his occupation as a builder and which was removed through a supero-external port.
Conclusions: Loose joint bodies are difficult to diagnose, with varied etiology and in which arthroscopy is the most effective surgical method for diagnosis and treatment.
