Introduction: In recent years, there has been an increase in complaints of musculoskeletal disorders among stomatologists, making these conditions a relevant occupational problem. In Cuba, healthcare workers also face this reality, with growing concern about ailments associated with prolonged clinical practice.
Objective: To evaluate postural ergonomic risks in stomatologists at the Mario Muñoz Monroy Military Hospital.
Methods: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted with the participation of five stomatologists. Variables related to work postures, the presence of pain using the “Body Map” tool, and joint angles using Kinovea software were analysed. The postural risk assessment was complemented by the application of the RULA method.
Results: Frequent discomfort in the wrists and neck was identified. All the postures evaluated presented a similar level of ergonomic risk, although posture Two obtained a higher score (4), suggesting greater biomechanical demands in that configuration.
Conclusion: Some postures adopted during dental practice involve a higher risk of developing musculoskeletal disorders. The relationship between sustained postures and the onset of pain highlights the need for preventive ergonomic interventions in the dental workplace.
