Management model for the comprehensive care of the patient with bruxism

Abstract

Introduction: Due to its complexity, bruxism requires interdisciplinary and comprehensive care that includes biopsychosocial aspects of patients, their families, and the community, implementing health promotion, prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation actions.

Objective: Present a management model for comprehensive care for patients with bruxism.

Methods: A technological development and innovation study was conducted at the Mártires del Moncada Provincial Teaching Dental Clinic in Santiago de Cuba between May and September 2024. A population of five professionals with more than 10 years of experience in caring for patients with bruxism was employed. A single complex variable was used: management of comprehensive care for patients with bruxism, operationalized in five dimensions and 32 indicators. A model was designed, following the steps proposed by Hernández Sampieri.

Presentation: Management model for comprehensive care for patients with bruxism is defined and represented, which is flexible, transformative, participatory and integrative and which is materialized in a scientific-technological service that integrates the three levels of care.

Conclusions: A management model was designed for the interdisciplinary approach to patients with bruxism, based on comprehensive care with a biopsychosocial and environmental focus.
