Bibliometric analysis of the scientific production of the Cuban Journal of Military Medicine

Introduction: Bibliometric studies are essential tools in scientometrics, allowing for the quantification of scientific production and the analysis of trends, quality, and quantity of research to enhance the management of scientific knowledge.
Objective: To characterize the scientific production of the Cuban Military Medicine Journal during 5 years.
Methods: A bibliometric study was conducted to evaluate the scientific production of the Revista Cubana de Medicina Militar, from January 2021 to April 2025; 870 manuscripts were analyzed. The variables used were authors' gender, country, specialties, typology, and year of publication, language, references, term co-occurrence, and rate of variation. Descriptive statistics methods and bibliometric indicators were employed.
Results: A clear predominance of research articles was observed n = 395; 45.40%, contributing 9237 references and 1856 authors. Psychology was the specialty with the highest number of publications n = 78; 8.97%. The Spanish language predominated (n = 823; 94.60%). Cuban authors predominated n = 2407; 65.34%. The year with the highest scientific production was 2023, with 204 manuscripts, 23.45%.
Conclusions: The scientific production of the Cuban Journal of Military Medicine includes a wide variety of published manuscripts from different medical specialties and nationalities, predominantly Cuban, in Spanish and English languages. It is characterized by originality, multiple authorship, and up-to-date content.
