Introduction: Choroidal hemangioma is a rare benign vascular tumor that presents 2 clinical forms: the circumscribed, typically juxtapapillary or macular and the diffuse form. It is diagnosed late, between the third and fifth decades of life, if associated with exudative retinal detachment. Objective: To present a case of a patient with a circumscribed choroidal hemangioma and the behavior followed.
Clinical case: 53-year-old male patient with a history of arterial hypertension, operated for varicose veins in the lower limbs, with decreased central vision in the left eye, of 6 months of evolution. Ophthalmoscopy, ultrasound, optical coherence tomography and fluorescein angiography were performed, which showed an inferior temporal choroidal tumor lesion, with involvement of the macular area, he was diagnosed with a circumscribed choroidal hemangioma and was treated with photodynamic therapy.
Conclusions: Choroidal circumscribed hemangioma is an infrequent entity affecting visual acuity and photodynamic therapy is the treatment of choice.
